Today, I displayed a number of news concerning the Arabian region
among which the death of former prime minister Aziz Sedky who can be
considered as one of the most prominent icons in Nasser's age as he
is entitled as "father of the Egyptian industry". However,
he is one of the leading opponents against president Mubarak' s
policy.

In addition, I passed by some news items concerning the anxiety in
Jordan for the aggravated phenomena about (the fatherless
newly-born), the assassination of captain Wessam Eid as an attempt to
dissociate the Lebanese institutions, Gaza crisis and its news
related to the Gaza-Egypt border barrier damage.

Couple of issues drew my attention and I didn't ignore as it
illustrated the Egyptian government policy especially it is
considered as the model for the other Arab countries in dealing with
citizens.

The first issue is about complaint handed by a citizen from the
Burullus village against officials working in the Burullus village
supplying administration, and some bakery owners as he wasn't able to
have bread for his family.

That is the news as simple as that, and in fact, it is hiding a
great truth which is the Egyptian government attempt to weasel its
social obligations towards its citizens especially the vulnerable. In
contradiction with statement declared by Gawdat El-Malt, the chairman
of the Central Auditing Organization who laid stress on that the
government policies is supporting the rich only at the expense of the
simple citizen, the lack of real studies for the state-controlled
projects and squandering the state's money. I'm quite sure the
governmental subsidy hobbled the economy and caused the Egyptian
government debts.

So the government started to in a number of governorates to apply
a new experiment that every citizen can enroll his name in one of the
bakeries just to let 20 bread loafs be distributed to every
participated family in the project.

In one of El-Fayoum governorate villages, citizens participated in
the project and the distribution deputy stood in one of the squares
to distribute, as the person who didn't attend shall be deprived of
his quota as well as those arrived comers to the governorate. That is
to mean, the government is simply on its way to place the bread on
the commodities subsidy card that the complainant has to back to the
non-subsidized bread loaf!

Despite of the steep hikes in prices, the Egyptians reaction is
negative and lacks the objection in comparison to what happened in
1977 except for some classy disturbances in some institutions as Dr.
Amro El-Shweky had to ask :why the uprising of 18th and
19th January is not repeated?. El-Shweky point of view is
that president Mubarak could be affected by two historical events
that contributed in forming his way of governance, the first was the
events of 18th and 19th January and the second
is the mass September arrests. The two events formed the "political"
background for president Mubarak and enhanced his skill to inflict
frustration on the street as this way depend on not surprising the
people or providing them with any change by creating the
contradiction coexistence that there are the corrupts and the honest,
the producers and the unemployed, besides opening the way for the
opposition parties to move in a chaotic atmosphere as the running
into elections obligated these parties to use tricky ways to ensure
the chances of succession. However, there is a need to establish some
kind of relationship with the government and its security bodies in
order to protect the party's "style" and its quarters.

Many random and consequent uprisings are expected to happen this
year fuelled by the randomness of the "regime" itself as
all of it shall gather in one course which is the disorder, internal
collapse and decomposition.

The second issue concerning program Hadiet El-Madina (the city
gossips) which heralded on Fridays' night in the first Egyptian
channel that every one watched that program would realize how the
officials are thinking in Egypt as the Minister of Interior stated in
the beginning of the episode that number of detainees is about 3 or
4,

But Mufied Fawzy (the broadcaster) asked him: 3 persons only??

The minister replied: no, I mean 3000 or 4000 detainees.

So does 3 persons mean that the ministry of Interior is not
working?!!

We conclude that when there is no thousands of detainees, so the
Ministry of Interior is not working. When the number become larger
from the minister's point of view, so the police authority is doing
its job.

When the minster was been asked for the human rights reports, his
point of view is "they can say whatever they want as long as the
ministry of interior is caring about its job only". And for the
question concerning the arrest in case of suspect, the minister
replies that the police is doing so till they verify the innocence
of the accused, then they will set him free. Mufied Fawzy assured the
people not to worry as in case of random arrests, the innocent person
shall be set free!

This is the logic pursued by the police in dealing with people as the
rule became that the citizen would be accused till his innocence be
proved.

Despite of Mufied Fawzy's style in delivering questions which is
close to teaching answers as he was asking the question in a way of
(answer with yes or no), so this is the easiest way for answers. Then
he asked: the movie Heya Fawda (how disarray) is showing a model of a
corrupt police officer, so do you think that this is the common for
the whole policemen?

The minister replied that the movie was giving a misleading account
of the positive role played by the police and called the censorship
on movies to have control over that movie.

And in response to what is said about annulment of subsidy,
El-Masry El-Youm newspaper stated that a group of youngsters launched
an ironic campaign on FaceBook website suggesting the establishment
of ministry for Marijuana calling for supporting it under the slogan
(to survive, smoke Marijuana alive)...in this way, demonstrations can
be stopped as the government shall be able to cancel the state
security apparatus and the central security forces, that the
government would be able to cancel the bread subsidy when Marijuana
is subsidized.
