Appel à candidatures pour l’édition 2008 du Prix UNESCO/Bilbao pour la promotion d’une culture des droits de l’homme – la date limite pour envoyer les candidatures est fixée au 15 septembre 2008
Grâce à une généreuse donation de la ville de Bilbao (Communauté autonome du Pays basque, Espagne), ce prix remplace et élargit la portée du Prix UNESCO pour l’éducation aux droits de l’homme, créé en 1978. Il récompense des organisations et des particuliers ayant apporté une contribution significative à la cause des droits de l’homme par le biais de l’éducation et de la recherche, et par un effort de sensibilisation des décideurs et du grand public.
Le lauréat du prix 2008 recevra un diplôme, un trophée ainsi qu’une récompense financière dont le montant exact sera déterminé au début du processus de l’attribution du prix.
Le nom du lauréat sera annoncé en novembre 2008 et la cérémonie de remise du prix aura lieu vers le 10 décembre, à l’occasion de la Journée mondiale des droits de l’homme, au siège de l’UNESCO, à Paris.
Les candidatures peuvent être présentées par les gouvernements des États membres, en consultation avec leurs commissions nationales, et par des organisations non gouvernementales entretenant des relations officielles avec l’UNESCO, particulièrement celles agissant dans le domaine des droits de l’homme.
Le formulaire de candidature est à compléter en anglais ou en français et doit être retourné à l’UNESCO au plus tard le 15 septembre 2008.

La présentation de la candidature doit être concise et ne devra pas dépasser cinq pages standard. Des informations supplémentaires (publications, vidéo, audio et autres matériels didactiques, etc.) peuvent être jointes au formulaire de nomination. Elles seront communiquées au jury et seront conservées à l’UNESCO.

Call for nominations for the UNESCO/Bilbao Prize for the Promotion of a Culture of Human Rights 2008 - deadline for submission of candidatures expires on 15 September 2008
Thanks to a generous endowment from the City of Bilbao (Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, Spain), this prize follows on from, and enlarges the scope of, the UNESCO Prize for Human Rights Education, established in 1978. It rewards outstanding contributions made by organizations and individuals to the cause of human rights through means of education and research, as well as awareness-raising among decision-makers and the general public.
The winner will receive a diploma, a trophy and a monetary award, which exact amount will be determined at the beginning of the awarding process.
The name of the prize-winner will be announced in November 2008 and the award ceremony will be held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on or around 10 December - Human Rights Day.
Nominations shall be submitted by Member States, in consultation with their National Commissions, as well by non-governmental organizations maintaining formal consultative relations with UNESCO, especially those dealing with human rights.
The nomination form must be completed in either English or French and should reach UNESCO no later than 15 September 2008.
